Understanding Accounts, Members, and Member Users
Three concepts drive how access and allocation work across the ModernFi Admin Portal. An account is an Insured Sweep Account opened at your credit union. A member is the beneficial owner(s) of those funds, typically an individual, organization, or the co-owners of an account. The member, not the account, drives allocation treatment. A member user is a person who logs in to the Member Portal on behalf of the member to view and manage their account(s).
These relationships are flexible in every direction:
| Scenario | Relationship | How to Set Up |
|---|---|---|
| Joint Account | One account with two members | Sweep Program - Add members during Account Opening and in the Edit Account workflow |
| Multiple Accounts | One member with multiple accounts | Sweep Program - select the existing member when opening each additional account in Account Opening |
| Organization | One member with multiple users | Sweep Program - select a single member when opening the account. Add additional users to the member during member creation or through the User Management tool |
| Business + Personal | One user with multiple members | Invite the same email for each member; one login gains access to all accounts associated with each member |
